Gautam Adani, founder and chairman of the Adani Group, has been the driving force behind the conglomerate's impressive growth since its inception. Starting in 1988 with a commodity trading business, Adani's strategic vision and entrepreneurial skills have propelled the group into diverse sectors, including infrastructure, energy, and logistics. Under his leadership, the Adani Group has become India’s largest private port operator and a significant player in renewable energy, demonstrating a commitment to growth and innovation.

Adani has announced his intention to retire at the age of 70, with plans to transfer leadership of the Adani Group to the next generation in the early 2030s. In an interview with an international news agency, the 62-year-old revealed that control of the conglomerate will shift to a family trust, managed by his sons Karan and Jeet, and his nephews Pranav and Sagar.

He emphasized that his succession plan, which began nearly a decade ago, involves gradually introducing his sons and nephews into key roles. Karan (37) and Jeet (26), along with their cousins Pranav (45) and Sagar (30), will each hold an equal stake in the family trust. Adani's approach aims to ensure a smooth and systematic transition.

Adani stressed the importance of succession for business sustainability. He noted that the transition must be organic and carefully managed to maintain the group's stability and growth. By empowering the second generation, Adani hopes to continue the legacy of innovation and expansion.

"My plan of succession started almost a decade ago and I gradually inducted our G2, Pranav, Karan, Sagar and now Jeet," Adani stated. This strategic move is designed to foster a leadership team ready to build on the group’s achievements and drive future growth.

Adani’s focus on ensuring that the next generation is eager for growth is a notable aspect of his succession strategy. He highlighted that such hunger for advancement is rare among the second generation, reflecting his confidence in their capability to lead the Adani Group into its next phase.
