At a recent event, Bhavish Aggarwal, the founder of Ola, revealed the company's ambitious plans for its AI platform, Krutrim. Aggarwal emphasized Krutrim's goal to compete with major global players in constructing energy-efficient data centers and offering cloud services at highly competitive rates, particularly targeting the development of artificial intelligence. He announced the launch of Krutrim Cloud, an AI cloud platform aimed at catering to the needs of Indian developers, researchers, and enterprises at low costs.

 

Aggarwal highlighted Ola's commitment to developing its technology for energy management to establish the most efficient data centers globally. He expressed a bold willingness to challenge industry giants like Microsoft and Google, asserting that Krutrim would surpass their standards in efficiency. Aggarwal questioned the disparity in cloud costs between Indian and American developers, vowing to address and rectify this imbalance.

 

The overarching ambition of Krutrim, Aggarwal explained, is to create a comprehensive AI platform that facilitates easier, faster, and more cost-effective application development for developers. He emphasized that high cloud service costs often hinder startup profitability, a challenge Krutrim aims to mitigate through its offerings.

One of the standout features of Krutrim is its assistant app, built on a large language model trained on an extensive dataset of over 2 trillion tokens, with a predominant focus on Indic languages. Aggarwal proudly stated that Krutrim currently comprehends and generates intelligent responses in over 10 Indian languages, with plans to expand to all 22 official languages shortly.

 

Aggarwal positioned Krutrim as an Indian platform with global aspirations, asserting its commitment to making various models tailored to the Indian context. He mentioned ongoing efforts in developing voice and vision-based models, indicating Krutrim's dedication to innovation and relevance in diverse application scenarios.
